EyeKon Medical announced that it has received US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for QuickSet TKP, a temporary keratoprosthesis designed to facilitate posterior-segment visualization during complex vitreoretinal procedures.
The device is manufactured from medical-grade polymethylmethacrylate and features a central viewing area with sutures positioned around its peripheral edge. Once the sutures are placed, the interface between the prosthesis and cornea is designed to create a seal that maintains a closed system during vitrectomy, according to the company.
QuickSet TKP is now commercially available in the United States exclusively through EyeKon Medical's distribution partner, VEO Ophthalmics. RP
