Optos PLC announced that it has surpassed 30,000 retinal imaging devices installed worldwide, marking a milestone for the company more than 3 decades after introducing its ultra-widefield (UWF) retinal imaging technology.
The Dunfermline, Scotland–based company said the milestone reflects continued adoption of its single-capture, 200° UWF imaging systems across optometry, ophthalmology, retina specialty practices, telehealth programs, and multisite health systems. Optos imaging platforms now support 10 imaging modalities designed to integrate across multiple clinical settings while maintaining diagnostic quality and workflow efficiency.
In the announcement, Optos recognized Radiance Eye Care, a Vision Source member practice, for incorporating Optomap UWF imaging into routine eye examinations. Toral Patel, OD, said the technology has enhanced patient education and supported a more proactive approach to identifying ocular and systemic disease. RP
